DISCHARGE

Congratulations!  You have now been proven clinically sane and ready to be reassimilated as a productive member of society!

DISCHARGE PROCEDURES

Once your psychiatrist has ordered your discharge, your nurse will provide written instructions for your care at home. He or she will review these documents with you and your family before you leave the institution.

If you have received authorization for Express Checkout, you may leave the institution immediately.

Please arrange to leave the institution as early in the day as possible, preferably by 11 am. This reduces the delay in admission that is sometimes experienced by other patients and follows normal hotel style check out procedures for your comfort and ease.

Please be sure you have all your personal belongings

with you before you leave the institution.

Check the bathroom, drawers and closet.

If you have stored items like firearms or

other weapons with Safety & Security,

call (323) 258-8063 during Pacific time zone hours to retrieve them.

Be sure to keep a song in your heart and sing it on your way out.

Checking out can be a complicated and traumatic procedure.  You will miss your new friends and our friendly staff.  There are two basic methods, self, or staff assisted discharge.  Self is much easier and requires less paperwork, but are you really ready to make the choice for yourself if you are ready for the real world?  That is part of why our staff is prepared to help you in this complicated process. Carefully consider your choice as we do not want to influence it in any way.

At all costs, meditate, or call your mother or best friend for advise, or consult your invisible friend if you have one. This could be the most important choice you ever make.  Do not feel pressured, you can hang out here in the discharge room as long as you feel   it is necessary.
