ALTERNATIVE THERAPY

Significant Alternative Therapy Options

Mental illness has the same kind of incidence as physical illness. Wouldn't it be weird if someone had never ever been physically ill? That is our surefire approach to mental illness. The paid psychiatric world has made considerable progress in the last few decades on this point, but it still has some way to go.  These are but of a few of our alternative therapies.

Aroma Therapy

olfactory stimulation has proved quite successful for many phobias.  Take time to smell a flower today!

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mind, mood, cognitive function or health.

Some essential oils such as tea tree have demonstrated clinical evidence demonstrating efficacy against neurotypical  mutations.  Evidence for the efficacy of aromatherapy in treating mental conditions remains highly spurious, but we continue to believe in it anyhow.

See for yourself if Aroma Therapy is right for you.

Music Therapy

A therapist uses music to stimulate physical, emotional,  social, aesthetic, and spiritual areas of the brain to  improve mental health levels.

Music therapists are found in nearly every area of the helping professions. Some commonly found practices include developmental work (communication, motor skills, etc.) with individuals with special needs, songwriting and listening in reminiscence/orientation work with the elderly, processing and relaxation work, and rhythmic entrainment for physical rehabilitation in stroke victims. Music therapy is also used in some medical hospitals, cancer centers, schools, alcohol and drug recovery programs, psychiatric hospitals, and correctional facilities.

Note to those with hay fever symptoms

This usually causes sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, swelling and inflammation of the nasal passages, and an increase in mucus production. Symptoms vary in severity between various individuals so be sure to wear your gas mask.

Allergic rhinitis triggered by the pollens of specific seasonal plants is commonly known as "hay fever", because it is most prevalent during haying season. However, it is possible to suffer from hay fever throughout the year. The pollen which causes hay fever varies between individuals and from region to region; generally speaking, the tiny, hardly visible pollens of wind-pollinated plants are the predominant cause. Pollens of insect-pollinated plants are too large to remain airborne and pose no risk.  At risk situations call for a gas mask which  is a mask put on over the face to protect the wearer from inhaling airborne pollutants. The mask forms a sealed cover over the nose and mouth, but may also cover the eyes and other vulnerable soft tissues of the face.
